- Found thermostat not opening completely at regulated temperature getting to 240-245 with fans running, gauge a little past 3/4. No leaks in cooling system. Checked for combustion gasses from bad head gasket, NONE found at this time. Rec replacing the thermostat. ***After thermostat replacement, found gauge still reading @ 5/8 mark when fans turn on and cool down. Replaced temp sender to verify instrument cluster temp gauge reading incorrectly.***
